My name is Laurel Wilton and I am a double major in the DAI department at San Francisco State University. I am majoring in Visual Communication and Industrial Technology with an emphasis in Product Development and Manufacturing Technology. I am minoring in California Studies. My interests include photography, surfing, traveling, gardening, interior design, and searching for treasures at thrift stores.
2. What inspires/wows you?
I love vintage housewares, electronics, advertisements, mid century design, etc. I am constantly looking for something new but old. Nature has to be one of my biggest inspirations because there is always discover something that you've never seen before. Music is also an inspiration because it is always evolving and affects your thoughts and emotions.
3. Who or what are your influences?
Man Ray, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, George Briard, George Nelson, Marilyn Monroe, Nelson De La Nuez, Yaya Chou, Masami Teraoka, The Birth of the Cool, the 50's, the 60's and the 70's.
4. What is your vision or hope in your lifetime?
I would love to travel the world. I have been to Japan, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Greece, England, and Scotland, but would love to see more. I would like to go on a road trip around the United States someday.
I want to have my own business someday. I'm always interested in trying new things and seeing new places. Although I don't really know what my dream job would be, I want to have a job that I enjoy and feel challenged. I don't like routine, but am used to it, so something where I can do something different. And of course, have a family when I am financially able.
